This morning (April 12, 2026), Pol. Lt. Sikharet Nora, Deputy Investigator at Cha-am Police Station, received a report from Cha-am Hospital that a man had been seriously injured by a gunshot. He coordinated with the investigative team and motorcycle patrol to investigate.
At the emergency room, they found Mr. Nattadanai, 25, the son of a police sergeant at Cha-am Police Station, with a gunshot wound to the right side of his abdomen, the bullet lodged inside. He was seriously injured. Medical staff provided first aid before urgently transferring him to Phra Chom Klao Hospital in Phetchaburi for surgery. Meanwhile, at Cha-am Hospital, they also found Mr. Jiraphan, 24, a friend of Mr. Nattadanai, with a gunshot wound to his left wrist. Two of Mr. Jiraphan's friends were present while he was being escorted to the scene of the incident by police. During this time, his two friends took advantage of the commotion and left Cha-am Hospital.
Police then took Mr. Jiraphan to a friend's house in Moo 9, Ban Hub Kapong, Khao Yai Subdistrict, Cha-am District, Phetchaburi Province, where they seized a 9mm handgun and one 9mm round of ammunition as evidence before bringing him to Cha-am Police Station for questioning.
During initial questioning, Mr. Jiraphan confessed that he had purchased the gun from a group of friends before the incident, but he lacked knowledge about firearms and accidentally shot himself and his friend, Mr. Nattadanai, who was sitting next to him, causing serious injuries. He then called his two friends to drive them to the hospital.
Mr. Nattadanai later died at Phra Chom Klao Hospital in Phetchaburi Province. Police charged Mr. Jiraphan with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, and negligent homicide. They were found to be illegally using Category 1 narcotics. They were then taken, along with the confiscated items, to the Cha-am Police Station for legal proceedings.
