SAA event in Ukhia area, Bangladesh on Sun 29th March 2026

Bangladesh's specialized crime-fighting unit, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-15) has seized a cache of weapons and military-grade equipment from a Rohingya refugee camp in Ukhia under Cox’s Bazar district. 

According to a RAB spokesperson, the seizure took place during a targeted operation in the early hours of 29 March.

Acting on confidential intelligence over a criminal stockpile, the RAB-15 personnel moved into block-B/41 of the Balukhali refugee camp-8 (east) at around 1:10 am.

By 2:20 am, the task force raided a tin-roofed shelter belonging to 40-year-old Saikat Hossain Bulu. Sensing the arrival of them,   Bulu fled from the venue.

A thorough search of the premises uncovered the following items: one 13.5-inch locally made gun and one foreign-made pistol along with four rifle-rounds and one pistol magazine loaded with four bullets. At the same time, they recovered 85 sets of combat uniforms, 210 military-style helmets and 30 hats along with 15 tactical belts, 40 pairs of gloves and 98 pairs of special socks.

The legal officer of  RAB-15 asserted that the unit always maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and other criminal activities reported in the Rohingya refugee camps.
