In Hpakant, the army shot and abandoned 4 civilians

In Kachin State, Hpakant Township, local residents said that the military junta’s forces shot and killed 4 civilians and today, April 14, dumped them on a road in Mashi Ka Htaung Ward.

It is said that in Hpakant, the army has been arresting people suspected of something and interrogating them at the military base, and around 2:00 p.m. today, they killed them at the Hpakant military base and dumped the 4 civilians in a group near the Shwe Myanmar fuel station junction in Mashi Ka Htaung Ward in a Phoenix vehicle.

A local resident told DVB, “It is a place where junta forces come and go. No one dares go there to collect the bodies. The social support teams are ready. They dumped them in a pile.”

The army has blocked the Hpakant–San Kyaung–Hpae Pin–Seikmu road, which is the road from Hpakant town to Seikmu village, up to the entrance of San Kyaung village.

It is said this is because fighting is taking place between the army and revolutionary forces on the side behind Mashi Ka Htaung Ward in Hpakant, toward Sut Taung Kone.

It was also reported that fighting between the army and revolutionary forces lasted all day behind Mashi Ka Htaung Ward on the day before Thingyan. This morning, fighting continued again, and by afternoon it had become quiet.
