Mizzima: According to a Kachin military source, heavy fighting is taking place in the Ma Shi Ka Taung neighborhood of Hpakant town, Kachin State, on the eve and the day of the Myanmar Thingyan festival.
A military source on the front lines said that fighting had been ongoing since early morning today (April 14), the day of the Thingyan holiday, until around 9 a.m. when Mizzima contacted them for information.
“Yesterday, there was heavy fighting. They were firing at night. This morning (April 14, the day of the Thingyan Festival), they are still firing frequently. At 8:55 a.m., we started hearing the sound of artillery,” he said.
The KIA coalition forces reportedly dropped three bombs on the Naypyidaw military base in Hpakant around 4:30 a.m. today. The military source said that the targets were hit and there may have been casualties, but the exact number is not yet known.
