A police raid in Esteban Echeverría, Buenos Aires province, Argentina, ended in a deadly shootout, leaving one suspect dead. The operation targeted a criminal gang involved in vehicle theft and violent "entraderas" (home invasions) across the southern Greater Buenos Aires area. The group also altered stolen cars for illegal resale or further criminal use. The investigation began after authorities arrested a gang member following the theft of a Toyota Yaris. Phone analysis revealed the organization's structure, prompting judges to authorize 33 simultaneous raids. At least 15 suspects were detained overall. In one raid at a home in the 9 de Abril neighborhood, where several gang members were gathered, reportedly during a party, the suspects opened fire on officers. A shootout ensued, resulting in one criminal fatally shot. Other suspects were subdued and arrested. The operation, carried out by Bonaerense police and the DDI of Lomas de Zamora, dismantled a key part of the network linked to multiple violent crimes in the region.
