SAA event in Mexico on Fri 13th March 2026
13th March 2026
In a tragic incident in Apodaca, Nuevo León, Mexico, gunmen opened fire on a family outside a primary school, killing a 5- or 6-year-old boy with a shot to the head. His 11-year-old sister and their mother were also wounded in the attack, which occurred as the family was picking up or leaving the school premises in the Hacienda Las Margaritas (or Las Margaritas) neighborhood. The targeted individual was reportedly the father, who survived by fleeing the scene. Authorities indicate the assault was a targeted hit against him, with some reports noting his alleged links to organized crime. The shooting caused widespread panic among parents and children, who rushed back into the school (identified in some accounts as Primaria Saturnino Herrán) for safety. Security camera footage captured the chaos and the moment of the attack near a commercial area, including a Bodega Aurrera store. The boy, named Josué in some reports, was rushed to an IMSS hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after. State prosecutors continue to investigate the motives and perpetrators amid Nuevo León's ongoing challenges with violence and organized crime.
