Sniper Attack Injures National Police Officer in Río de Oro, Cesar A National Police officer was seriously wounded on Sunday afternoon, March 29, in an armed attack in the El Tope sector, along the road connecting Río de Oro to Aguachica, in the department of Cesar. According to initial reports, the officer, identified as Intendente Rafael Arzuza (also referred to as Rafa Arzuza), was performing control and surveillance duties when he was shot by a sniper. Authorities suspect the attack was carried out by members of the ELN (National Liberation Army) guerrilla group. Following the incident, joint operations were immediately launched by the National Police and the Army to locate and capture those responsible. Security measures have also been reinforced in the area, which has a history of public order issues. The injured officer was stabilized and transferred to a medical facility in Ocaña, where he remains under treatment. His condition is reported as stable.
