Acapulco, Guerrero, April 11, 2026 – The Mexican Navy (Semar) reported that 81 suspected criminals were arrested during Operation “Escudo Sable” (Shield Saber), which took place in Acapulco, Guerrero, last March. According to the statement, those arrested are suspected of drug trafficking and other illicit activities, including possession of firearms restricted to the military, extortion, fraud, homicide, and theft of vehicles and motorcycles. Naval personnel also seized 573 doses of a substance resembling crystal methamphetamine, 394 packets of a substance resembling marijuana, 36 doses of a white powder resembling cocaine, and eight solid fragments resembling rocks. Regarding weaponry and tactical equipment, the marines seized nine firearms of various calibers, some reserved for the exclusive use of the Armed Forces, as well as 23 magazines and 424 rounds of ammunition. Likewise, nine illegally installed video surveillance cameras were removed from public roads; this equipment was allegedly being used to monitor the movements of law enforcement agencies.
