A man repeatedly shot at a driver during an attempted robbery on Saturday, April 11, on Jazmines Street in the California Alta neighborhood, north of Quito. The assailant initially approached the victim under the pretext of needing a technical consultation before proceeding with the armed attack. Security camera footage shows the individual demanding the vehicle's keys through threats; when the driver refused, the attacker fired a handgun. After the shots were fired, the suspect fled the scene on a delivery motorcycle that was waiting for him a few meters away. "We heard the shots and then the sound of the motorcycle speeding off toward the main street," said a resident who was near the perimeter at the time of the incident. Response units arrived at the scene to assist the victim and collect ballistic evidence, while traffic on Jazmines Street remains restricted for the forensic investigation.
