Undefined Explosive Device (UED) event in Södertälje, Geneta Centrum area, Sweden on Mon 13th April 2026

An alarm about an indoor explosion was received at 10.47 on Monday morning. The incident occurred at a store in Geneta centrum in Södertälje.

It is currently unclear what caused the explosion in the Geneta center.

– We are on site with several resources due to something having exploded in the Geneta center, says Susanna Rinaldo, press spokesperson for the Stockholm Police.

A nearby preschool has been evacuated and no one was injured.

– It is material damage. The extent is a bit unclear to me. It is something that we are currently mapping out, says Robert Sennerdal at the Stockholm Police.

No one is detained

According to information provided to Aftonbladet , it is a thermos bomb.

– We cannot confirm what exploded, but we must continue the investigation, says Robert Sennerdal.

However, what happened at the scene is still unclear.

– There is no one deprived of their liberty in any case, I can say that for sure, says Robert Sennerdal.

Police conduct door knocking

By 4:30 p.m., police technicians were almost finished at the scene and the police are continuing their investigation.

"We are trying to find video footage from the scene and interview witnesses. We are also knocking on doors to find out if anyone has anything to say," says Robert Sennerdal.

The police have launched a preliminary investigation into serious public danger.

Previous incidents

On Friday, a fire also occurred in the same store. The police were on site at the time and, based on observations and findings, have not ruled out that the fire may have been arson.
