Suspected terrorists kill five forest guards, loot arms in Kwara attack By: Zagazola Makama Suspected terrorists have killed five forest guards and carted away weapons during an attack on security personnel in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara. Security sources said the incident occurred at about 3:20 a.m. on April 10, when troops of Operation Savannah Shield, deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Kaiama, received information about an attack on personnel of the Nigeria Police at Nuku. The sources disclosed that during the attack, the assailants killed five forest guards and looted five AK-47 rifles and 10 magazines belonging to the guards. The attackers also reportedly seized one AK-47 rifle with a magazine belonging to a police personnel. “In addition, the terrorists burnt two motorcycles, one Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Hilux vehicle, and other personal items belonging to the police personnel,” the source said. The corpses of the victims were evacuated to the General Hospital, Kaiama. Efforts are ongoing by security agencies to track down the perpetrators of the attack. Attempts to get official confirmation from the police authorities were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
