A violent armed attack occurred in the Ramón Farías neighborhood of Uruapan, Michoacán, after the owner of "Joyería Urano" was targeted by gunmen. The victim, identified as 76-year-old José Manuel, was seriously wounded in the attack. The incident took place outside the business located on Jalisco Street, near the intersection with Michoacán Street. After hearing the gunshots, neighbors immediately alerted the 911 emergency system, leading to a rapid response from Public Security officers and the National Guard. A video circulating on social media shows the moment the jeweler was about to get into his vehicle. At that moment, two gunmen approached him unexpectedly and opened fire before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction. Upon the arrival of law enforcement, it was confirmed that the injured man was no longer at the scene, as his family, given the urgency of the situation, decided to transport him to a nearby hospital themselves. José Manuel's condition remains confidential, although it was reported as critical due to his advanced age and the nature of his injuries. The area was cordoned off by uniformed officers following chain of custody protocols, allowing personnel from the Regional Prosecutor's Office to process the scene in search of ballistic evidence. Simultaneously, the Investigative Police of the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) went to the hospital to obtain the victim's statement and attempt to establish a solid line of investigation to locate those responsible. This attack adds to the recent wave of violent incidents that have affected the commercial sector of Uruapan, where the operations of hit squads continue to defy the presence of federal and state forces in the region.
