– We receive calls that there is a man with a knife or knife-like object at this location, that is why we go there, says the police's RLC commander Johan Österlund.
Walked around with a machete
According to reports from the public, the man was walking around the residential area, where there were a lot of people on the move, with a machete.
However, he did not behave aggressively and it did not seem like he wanted to hurt anyone, the police told SVT.
Shots fired
Several police patrols responded, but when they found the man, he refused to follow their orders, so the police fired warning shots. Then, stun guns were also used to control the man, but he was not injured, according to the police.
The man, who is in his 25s, is suspected of aggravated threat against a public servant and aggravated violation of the Knife Act. According to routine, the firing of live warning shots will be investigated internally within the police.
