An explosion occurred in southern Sofielund in Malmö on Saturday night. No one was reportedly injured.

– A car has suffered some damage, says Peter Martin, police officer on duty.

At midnight on Saturday, several people called in about explosions in Malmö, and police patrols also heard several detonations, but it was not until 1:20 a.m. that the crime scene was found.

No one is reported to have sustained any injuries.

National bomb shelter on site

Initial reports of several different bangs, from different addresses, have continued.

– We still hear bangs, it's coming in from both Malmö and Lund, but it seems to be a lot of fireworks, says Peter Martin, who can't answer why it's banging tonight.

But the explosion in southern Sofielund is not from a firework, the National Bomb Protection Agency has confirmed.

– It's different, says Peter Martin.

No more dangerous objects left

The case is classified as public danger destruction and a violation of the Act on Flammable and Explosive Goods, the police write on their website.

– Technicians and the national bomb disposal unit have worked at the site to check that there is nothing else that is dangerous, but there is not, says Peter Martin.
