On March 31, a 27-year-old Indian-origin man, Jasman Sekhon, was shot dead in Surrey, Canada, in an incident suspected to be linked to organised crime, reports The Tribune. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) identified the victim and stated that early indications suggest a targeted killing related to the drug trade. Witnesses reported that a dark SUV chased Sekhon before two assailants opened fire. A burning vehicle was later found nearby, a hallmark of gang-related killings. Police are investigating the circumstances; four shootings have been reported in Surrey within 48 hours.
