On March 26, Six cadres of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) surrendered before Police in Kanker District of Chhattisgarh over two days, reports The Pioneer. According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Nikhil Rakhecha, five cadres belonged to the RajnandgaonKanker Border Division, while one was associated with Peoples Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Military Company No. 5. The surrendered cadres were identified as Area Committee Members (ACMs) Mangesh Podiyami, Ganesh VK, Mangti Jurri, Hidme Markam alias Sunita, Raje, and Platoon Party Committee Member (PPCM) Swaroopa Usendi. They handed over three firearms, including one Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) and two .303 rifles. Security Forces (SFs) indicated that intelligence provided by the surrendered cadres would be used to trace remaining operatives. Inspector General (IG), Bastar Range, Sundarraj Pattilingam reiterated appeals for surrender under the Governments rehabilitation policy. Authorities noted that over 2,700 Maoists have surrendered in the past 26 months. The development follows the recent surrender of senior leader Pappa Rao and 17 cadres.
