On March 26, the Counter-Intelligence Wing of Punjab Police in Jalandhar District neutralised an inter-state illegal weapons supply module with the arrest of two persons from Mathura District, Uttar Pradesh. The accused were identified as Dalesh Kumar alias Saurav Kumar alias Nannu, a resident of Paindapur village in Aligarh, and Amit Chahar, a resident of Baseri Chahar village in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. According to Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, the arrests were made in Mathura, where five country-made pistols and 10 magazines were initially recovered from Kumars car. Following his disclosure, an additional five pistols and 10 magazines were recovered from the Mathura-Palwal Highway, bringing the total recovery to 10 pistols and 20 magazines. Investigations revealed that the accused were operating under the direction of foreign-based criminals located in Germany and the USA, who were supplying weapons to criminal gangs in Punjab. The duo was also involved in procuring weapons and carrying out extortion at a travel agents residence in Garhshankar, acting on instructions from their foreign handlers.
