SAA event in Manipur, Tronglaobi, Bishnupur District area, India on Tue 7th April 2026
7th April 2026
On April 7, three persons were killed and several others injured when personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) allegedly opened fire on protesters at Tronglaobi in Bishnupur district of Manipur on April 7, 2026, following violent clashes outside a CRPF camp, reports Northeast Now. A large crowd had gathered at Tronglaobi Maning in the Gelmon area after a recent projectile attack by suspected Kuki militants that killed two minor siblings and critically injured their mother. Protesters accused Security Forces (SFs) of failing to prevent the attack and alleged that armed groups were operating from nearby areas. Tensions escalated when sections of the crowd reportedly attempted to force entry into the camp and damaged vehicles and barracks. CRPF personnel then opened fire to disperse the mob, resulting in casualties. Amid escalating unrest, the State Government suspended internet services in Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching and Bishnupur districts for three days.
