IED event in Punjab, Amritsar District area, India on Fri 3rd April 2026
3rd April 2026
On April 3, Police foiled a terror plot in Amritsar District of Punjab and arrested Harman Singh of Umarpura village under Ajnala Police Station (PS), recovering a 500-gram improvised explosive device (IED), reports The Tribune. The accused was allegedly acting at the behest of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The IED, suspected to have been drone-dropped from the Ramdas area in Gurdaspur District near the India–Pakistan border, was seized along with his mobile phone. Both the arrest and recovery occurred during the same operation. Preliminary investigations revealed several Pakistani mobile numbers and internet-based calls on the suspect’s phone. Police are probing possible links to the recent grenade attack at Bhindi Saida PS. Since January 2026, five Royal Demolition Explosive (RDX)-laden IEDs have been recovered in Punjab.
