The Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) local leader and tribal elder Abdul Rahim Sasoli who was the head of a “death squad” (state-backed local militia) was killed along with gunman in Nimargh area of Kalat District in Balochistan on April 2, reports The Khorasan Diary. Another gunman sustained injuries in the firing. Abdul Rahim Sasoli was standing along with his guards near his fields when armed men opened indiscriminate firing at them, leaving Abdul Rahim Sasoli and his guard Zafarullah Sasoli dead on the spot while injuring another gunman Ikramullah Sasoli. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) ‘spokesperson’ Azad Baloch on April 3 claimed responsibility for the killing of Rahim Sasoli. According to a press release from the BLA, Rahim Sasoli, described as an agent working under the Pakistani intelligence agency ISI, was executed for his involvement in collaborating with Security Forces to arrest and kill Baloch freedom activists. The BLA stated that the group had been monitoring Sasoli and his associates closely before choosing the moment to carry out the attack at a tube well on Sasoli’s farmland in Nimargh.
