SAA event in Brazil on Tue 7th April 2026

A man on a bicycle opened fire at close range on another person in the middle of a public street in Nova Iguaçu, Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil. The shooting took place on Monday afternoon in the city center. The victim, a man in a vulnerable situation (homeless), was hit multiple times and suffered serious injuries. He was rushed to the Hospital Geral de Nova Iguaçu, where he underwent emergency surgery. His condition is reported as serious but stable. The attacker fled the scene on the bicycle and remains at large. The motive for the attack is still unknown, and police are investigating.
