SAA event in Mexico on Thu 26th March 2026

Authorities have launched an investigation following the attack on a main thoroughfare in the city. Roberto Castañeda Tejeda, identified as the director of the Irapuato Water, Drainage, Sewerage, and Sanitation Board, was killed while traveling on Díaz Ordaz Boulevard. According to preliminary reports from security sources, armed men pulled alongside the vehicle in which the official was traveling and opened fire before fleeing the scene. After the attack, security personnel and emergency services arrived to cordon off the area and begin the initial investigation. Authorities reported that the investigation remains open to clarify the circumstances of the case.
