Burkina Faso 🇧🇫 | On April 2nd, several dozen Ansarul Islam (JNIM) terrorists attacked the village of Rambo (Yatenga, Yaadga). The VDP (Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland) were targeted.
🔴 According to an initial report, four VDP members were killed, including their leader.
🔵 The village was looted and burned by the terrorists (📽️ in the first comment). The damage is extensive.
🔸 The village had been harassed by JNIM terrorists for several weeks. Some residents fled the village to the south, to the commune of Téma-Bokin.
⚠️ Rambo is one of the last villages serving as a buffer to protect Téma-Bokin, the hometown of Thomas Sankara and a revolutionary symbol for the entire country. A terrorist incursion into this town or Sitoéga (Thomas Sankara's childhood village) would be a disaster for many Burkinabè.
ℹ️ Yatenga is under terrorist pressure, and Rambo is located south of the JNIM terrorists' area of influence as they attempt to advance towards the capital.
📽️ As a second comment, here is a video of smoke rising from the village of Rambo and the flight of many residents.
