On 1 April 2026, an explosion of unexploded ordnance occurred inside a scrap shop in Al-Hasakeh - Al Ghazal neighborhood in Al-Hasakeh city after the shop owner attempted to dismantle remnants of a drone inside the shop, causing a sudden explosion that killed six civilians, including four children, and injured one other, all from the same family. There was conflicting information about the origin of the drone, as one source claimed that the drone remnants were from a drone launched by Iraqi Shiite militias toward Syria, while other sources claimed that it belonged to unknown armed men. 6 fatalities.
