Missile event in Qatar on Wed 1st April 2026

On 1 April 2026, around 1:30am Doha time, Iranian forces (coded as IRGC by default) launched 2 projectiles, at least 1 of which a cruise missile, that directly impacted the Aqua 1 crude oil tanker (IMO: 9573660) in the Persian Gulf, around 17 nm north of Ras Laffan in Qatar. The missile caused a fire onboard that was later contained, and the second projectile hit the engine room but did not explode. There were no casualties. The attack was part of a barrage of at least 3 cruise missiles targeting Qatar, with the other 2 missiles being intercepted by Qatari forces (coded separately). The IRGC claimed the attack, stating that the tanker was Israeli-affiliated.
