On 30 March 2026, unidentified armed group (likely linked to Iranian-backed groups due to ongoing hostilities between the United States, Israel, and Iran) launched 122 mm Grad rockets from the outskirts of Baghdad, striking Martyr Mohammed Alaa Air Base within Baghdad International Airport (Baghdad), destroying an Iraqi Air Force Antonov-132 transport aircraft parked on the runway. The security forces later located rocket launch platforms in the Jisr Diyala area and began assessing damage and investigating the source of the attack.
