On 2 April 2026, an old IED which had been left behind by ISIL militants detonated in the hills in the eastern part of Beygee district (coded as Baiji city, Salah Al Din), injuring three workers who were shovelling. Security forces started a search operation in the nearby areas looking for other explosives. 3 injured. There were no fatalities.
