Around 29 March 2026 (as reported), in Monte Nuevo (Valencia, Los Rios), the army carried out an artillery attack against illegal mining camps operated by the Los Lobos gang. The attack destroyed 15 mine entrances, heavy machinery, and 500 sacks of gold bearing material were seized. Armored vehicles, mortars, and explosives were used in the operation. There were no fatalities.
