On 22 March 2026, in Chinacota (Norte de Santander), unidentified suspects detonated an explosive device in the La Palestina neighborhood as police officers were patrolling the area. The officers were stunned by the blast and were taken to hospital. Law enforcement suspect that the attack was a retaliation against authorities due to recent operations against drug trafficking in the sector. There were no fatalities.
