Around 16 March 2026 (week of), in the vicinity of Zamora municipality (Zamora Chinchipe), the army carried out artillery bombardments against illegal mining in Podocarpus National Park, in areas known as San Luis, Dos Camas, and La Aida. The army used BM-21 artillery systems to destroy a total of 129 camps and 94 mine entrances in the area. There were no fatalities.
