SAA event in Lashio area, Myanmar on Thu 2nd April 2026

A local told Golden Land that a male driver was shot at while delivering a parcel in the northern Shan State city of Laos, which is under the control of the military council.

The man was shot this morning, 2nd April, near a bus station in Ward 3 of Lashio town. "He was a driver, delivering a parcel sent from Panghsan. The driver said, “I've brought you your valuable parcel.” He said my parcel was valuable and asked for extra money. He (The man who came to collect the parcel) also said, “Just a moment,” and went to get the money, but instead went into the car, took out a gun and opened fire. He was hit near the neck. He is now in hospital," a local resident told Golden Land. The man who was shot is said to be in his late 20s and a car hijacker operating in the Laos-Pan San area. Following the military council's recapture of Laos city, such incidents, as well as murders, Robberies and thefts are also occurring frequently, and as the junta takes no action, locals have been forced to take matters into their own hands and apprehend the thieves, according to local sources.
