Heavy fighting between revolutionary forces led by the KNLA and the military has broken out on the Thai-Myanmar border in Myawaddy Township, Kayin State. Thai news agencies reported that the Thai military fired warning shots after bullets and shells landed on the Thai side of the border.
On March 31, clashes intensified between the combined forces led by the Karen National Union (KNU) and the Junta troops near the border. During the fighting, heavy artillery shells and bullets crossed into Thai territory, prompting the Thai military to issue warning shots in response.
According to military sources on the Myanmar side, the battles took place from March 30 to 31 in the Phalu area and at strategic bases in Walley, located along the Moei River more than 10 miles south of Myawaddy.
