On 23 March 2026, Russian forces (units of the 'East' group likely by shelling and drone strikes as the most common means) struck the Ukrainian personnel and equipment of a mechanized, airborne assault, two assault brigades, and three assault regiments near Huliaipilske, Zaporizhia. According to Russian sources, Ukrainian military lost: two armored combat vehicles, nine vehicles, three field artillery pieces and up to 280 Ukrainian servicemen were killed near Dobropasove, Oleksandrivka, Boikove, Hirke, Vozdvyzhivka, Kopani and Huliaipilske [Russian MoD reported 280 fatalities.
