CBRN event in Ukraine on Tue 24th March 2026
24th March 2026
MOSCOW The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said Tuesday that the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has lost its main power supply line. "Ukraine’s ZNPP lost the connection to the 750kv Dniprovska line today, leaving it dependent on its sole back-up line for external power,” it wrote on the US social media network X. “DG Rafael Grossi says IAEA initiates discussions with both sides on establishing local ceasefire to enable repairs of damaged power line. IAEA team is monitoring the situation at ZNPP.” Zaporizhzhia, Europe's largest nuclear facility, which has been under Russian control since March 2022, operates with all six reactors in cold shutdown, while Russia and Ukraine continue to trade blame about repeated infrastructure attacks that threaten the facility's safety.
