On 22 March 2026, for the second consecutive day, unidentified armed group (likely linked to Iranian-backed groups due to ongoing hostilities between the United States, Israel, and Iran) targeted the US diplomatic and logistics support facilities (Victoria Base) at Baghdad International Airport with multiple drones and rockets, hitting the logistics compound and a Counter-Terrorism Service facility, injuring five personnel. Air defenses intercepted several drones, and one drone debris fell in the nearby Al Jihad neighborhood. There were no fatalities.
