On 24 March 2026, an unidentified booby-trapped drone fell 3 km from the Shaheed Abdullah Hamza gas power station southwest of Kirkuk city (coded as Kirkuk city, Kirkuk) without causing notable damage. Security forces cordoned off the area, dismantled the drone and opened the investigation while reinforcing protection around the facility. There were no casualties.
