On 25 March 2026, US A-10 Thunderbolt II attack aircraft ('Warthog') conducted airstrikes targeting the military clinic and the engineering section of the Habbaniya Air Base in Habbaniya city (Al Anbar) including a HQ of the intelligence department of the Popular Mobilization Forces with two missiles, killing and injuring soldiers stationed there and health workers. In response, Prime Minister ordered the Foreign Ministry to summon the US charge d'affaires in Baghdad and hand him a protest note. He also directed that a documented complaint be submitted to the UN Security Council and international organizations. WHO condemned the attack. The US denied targeting the site. 13 people were injured and 7 killed including the commander of the clinic and 6 PMF members. 7 fatalities.
