On 27 March 2026, in Machala (El Oro), two individuals on a motorcycle placed and detonated an explosive device at the entrance of a bank on Rocafuerte Street, between Tarqui and Colon. One of the perpetrators got off the motorcycle, placed the explosive on the door, fled with his accomplice, and minutes later the device detonated. A worker at the location had previously reported extortion. Authorship is unknown. There were no fatalities.
