On 16 March 2026, in Kyauk Gu area (Gangaw township, Gangaw district, Magway region), the Myanmar military launched at least eight airstrikes near the compound of the Kyauk Gu Taw Ya religious land using six fighter jets from around 1:30 pm until 1:45 pm. A 50-year-old woman and a 13-year-old girl, who were sheltering in a hut in the forest, were killed, and a 50-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman sustained injuries. 2 fatalities.
