On 15 March 2026, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq launched 5 rockets toward Baghdad International Airport and its surroundings in Baghdad, injuring 4 airport employees and security personnel and one engineer as the projectiles landed inside the airport complex, near a water treatment station, close to Martyr Alaa Air Base, and near Baghdad Central Prison (Karkh). There were no fatalities.
