On 14 March 2026, unknown militants (likely linked to Iranian-backed groups due to ongoing hostilities between the United States, Israel, and Iran) struck a building in the US Embassy in Baghdad - Karkh (Baghdad) using a drone and at least one rocket, hitting a helicopter landing pad and a satellite communications system inside the compound, causing partial fires that were contained by local security forces. The attack came hours after airstrikes targeted Kataib Hezbollah members in Baghdad, likely motivating the strike. There were no casualties.
