Undefined Explosive Device (UED) event in Bjuv, Billesholm area, Sweden on Wed 1st April 2026

An explosion occurred at a gate to an apartment building in Bjuv municipality on Wednesday night. No one was reportedly injured.

– We have several police officers there now, said Patric Thelander at the police station, at half past three at night.

The alarm about an explosion was received by the police at 02.37 and on site in Billesholm, damage was found to a gate to an apartment building.

– Now they will knock on doors and ask if anyone has seen anything, says Patric Thelander, duty officer at the police.

No one was injured. Police forensic experts and the National Bomb Squad worked at the scene on Wednesday morning and an area was cordoned off.

“Broken glass”

It is not yet possible to say what type of explosion it was. According to the emergency services who were there immediately after the incident, it involved broken glass and damage to a door.

– We quickly handed it over to the police, said the line operator in the early morning.

Thelander does not believe it is about, for example, a firework display.

– I find that hard to imagine. It's too late and too odd a place, says Thelander.

According to the police, a report of public danger has been filed.
