On 14 March 2026, U.S. jets targeted suspected IRGC ammunition depots, air defense systems, the Joshan naval base, the airport watchtower, and a helicopter hangar using bunker-busting munitions in Khark on Kharg island (Bushehr, Bushehr), causing at least 15 explosions. Kharg island and its oil infrastructure is a strategic lifeline for the Iranian regime as it is responsible for up to 90% of Iran's oil exports. Israel and the United States launched a joint operation codenamed 'Roaring Lion' by Israel and 'Epic Fury' by the United States on 28 February 2026. US forces were coded as the main actor based on reporting that Israeli strikes focus on western and central Iran, while US operations are concentrated in the south. Casualties unknown.
