On 17 March 2026, unidentified gunmen traveling in a vehicle threw hand grenades and opened fire while passing through Beit Yashout village in Lattakia countryside, prompting General Security forces to deploy to the village. Syrian authorities claimed that former Assad regime elements were suspected of being behind the incident.
