On 17 March 2026, drones and a Katyusha rocket were launched likely by the Saraya Awliya Al Dam, which is part of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, targeted the US embassy in the Green Zone in Baghdad city (Baghdad), some of them penetrating US air defense systems (C-RAM). At least two drones were shot down, one of which crashed on Abu Nuwas Street and the second one near the embassy, the third drone likely managed bypass the air defense system, striking the wall and causing fire to the grassy area behind the embassy. Casualties unknown.
