On 17 May 2021, 19 Taliban, including 2 shadow district governors and 2 other Taliban governmental leaders, were killed during Afghan airstrikes in the Tukali Namusah (Khaja Namousi) area of the Pashtun Kot district, Faryab. The operation was carried out while the group was planning to launch attacks in different parts of the province.
