Rocket event in Kirkuk, K1 Military Base area, Iraq on Fri 13th March 2026
13th March 2026
On 13 March 2026, an unidentified armed group (likely linked to Iranian-backed groups due to ongoing hostilities between the United States, Israel, and Iran) struck Gometler/Ghumtar village and agricultural areas near K1 Military Base (coded as K1 Military Base, Kirkuk), targeting the base (two rockets struck the base, coded as a separate event). One of them struck a Christian cemetery, resulting in minor material damage. Authorities later found a rocket launcher 25 km away (coded as a separate event), containing one of two unfired projectiles that military engineers began dismantling. There were no casualties.
