On March 27, marking the 81st anniversary of Junta Army Day, the Arakan Army (AA) launched an artillery attack on the military cantonment in Sittwe, the capital of Rakhine state.
According to military sources close to the junta, the shelling killed at least six troops, including a major and a captain.
Three of the casualties occurred when shells struck the regional command headquarters. Those killed included a major (whose name is currently being verified), Captain Sit Naing and Sergeant Thein Kyaw.
