The Delhi Legislative Assembly and its Speaker, Vijender Gupta, received bomb threat emails on March 24, reports NDTV. Sources reported that a threatening email was sent to the Assembly at around 7:28 am, followed by another at 7:49 am on the Speaker’s official email ID. The emails mentioned a possible attack not only on the Assembly complex but also on the nearby Vidhan Sabha Metro Station. The emails named several high-profile leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Cabinet Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa. The messages contained provocative language, allegedly urging the officials to "protect themselves," while also referencing support for a so-called Khalistan referendum. A group identifying itself as the "Khalistani National Army" reportedly claimed responsibility, targeting the Delhi Chief Minister, the Cabinet, and the Lieutenant Governor. Security agencies have launched an investigation into the origin of the emails. Bomb disposal squads and police teams have been deployed around the Assembly and adjoining areas, and security at key installations across Delhi has been tightened. Officials are verifying the credibility of the threat.
