On March 18, Counter Intelligence (CI) foiled a terror plot with the arrest of two persons and recovered two hand grenades in Ferozepur District of Punjab, reports The Tribune. According to the First Information Report (FIR) registered at State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Fazilka, Police, acting on a tip-off, laid a barrier near Khall Khurd twin canals and arrested the accused along with explosives. The FIR stated that the accused were acting on directions of handler Jodha alias Joban, a resident of Tarn Taran District, who remains absconding. The arrested were identified as Buta Singh, alias Gurpreet Singh alias Gopu and Harmander Singh alias Neeka. Director General of Police (DGP) said the grenades were part of a cross-border supply chain smuggled from Pakistan. Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Avneet Kaur Sidhu confirmed arrests on the Moga-Ferozepur Road. A case has been registered under the Explosives Act.
